Since the closure of the PKP narrow gauge systems various private concerns are reopening the lines once again. However, in the majority of the cases these are operating on a preserved basis. Any freight still carried (such as at Zbiersk) is carried on standard gauge transporters, with the exception of sugar beet traffic. Unfortunately the sugar beet systems have all but disappeared now.
Industrial systems have not been widely reported in the past, but there are certainly brickworks still using narrow gauge railways. Reports on these systems are rare, and it is not easy to obtain information on the current situation.
The web pages of Andrew Goodwin and Dave Meller are some of the more comprehensive pages on the web of the current ex-PKP ng scene and also the sugar industry in Poland.
